Hi, I'm Gabe

I'm a self-taught software engineer with a formal degree from BYU Provo in Electrical Engineering (graduated 2021; GPA 3.87). My degree is load-bearing, which means I cover the stack in the literal sense. I've designed PCBs and radar integrations, and I've spent years sweating over every last pixel of production UIs and everything in between. I taught myself back before AI could even autocomplete a for-loop!

For the last 4+ years, I've been the lead developer on a digital therapeutics platform, where I designed and built a no-code app editor. Clinicians drag and drop React components; apps are stored as JSON and rendered live; and the whole thing ships to web, iOS, and Android from a single codebase.

I like software that regular people can actually use. I believe an interface can be serious without being boring (i.e., look closely at this entire website!).

Work

Square2 Systems

Lead Software Developer Dec 2021 – now

Lead (and longest-serving) engineer on a digital therapeutics platform that lets clinicians build app-based treatment programs for their patients. I own the UI architecture end to end: the drag-and-drop editor, the shared component library (React + StencilJS), and the patient apps. One React + Capacitor codebase, rendered to web, iOS, and Android.

HelpPays

Lead UI Developer 2022 – 2023

Led UI for a peer-to-peer lending platform: borrower and lender experiences, account dashboards, lending workflows, and payment API integrations. Money UIs have zero tolerance for ambiguity; it sharpened mine to match.

Freelance

Full-Stack Developer 2020 – 2022

Scoped, built, and shipped client web apps end to end, including an operations platform for an animal sanctuary (intake records, medication schedules, daily care). The users were human. The stakeholders were donkeys.

Things I've built on purpose

Polar Bear Early-Warning System

Founder · hardware + software

Radar that watches for polar bears and warns Arctic communities in real time, straight to their phones. The company didn't make it; the engineering did.

Logistiikka

Founder · React, TypeScript, Firebase

Field operations software for Sage 100 Contractor crews: scheduling, dispatch, time tracking, equipment, and inventory that syncs straight into accounting. I built the web admin console and backend, and it's in production with real users.

An Arcade

Builder · wood, wires, software

Yes, a real one. Buttons, joystick, glowing marquee. Best deploy target I've ever shipped to.

Sanctuary Ops

Client work · web app

A ledger for a donkey sanctuary: intakes, medication schedules, care tracking. Quietly one of the most useful things I've made.

Food Review Social App

Side project · social

A social platform for reviewing food with friends, because star ratings from strangers are a lie.

The No-Code Editor

Day job · my favorite problem

Drag-and-drop components, JSON-defined apps, live preview, undo/redo, publishing, and an AI agent that assembles apps from prompts. Building the tool that builds the apps.

See it moving
